Aurora
The WeatherGen of Hot Sun
When summer begins and the temperature soars - the WeatherGen you'd be most likely to see is Aurora, the hot sun WeatherGen. Although played by one person (Viva Seifert - below) in the ident you'll notice that there are several other actors, each playing a sunbeam, with Viva in the middle.
Viva, from West Kensington, South-West London, is a former dancer and rhythmic gymnast who represented Britain in the Barcelona Olympics. Her dress for Aurora was so huge she had to climb up a ladder and be lowered into it. The dress was gauzy with lots of different layers so the light shone through it to look like the sun rising.
Viva also had jewels stuck on to her face and flowers in her hair. The hard part was sitting on the box that the light came out of. By the end of the day people were standing by with fire extinguishers in case she went up in flames!
After Aurora, Viva kept busy starring in rock band Bikini Atoll, and working part-time in a Polish restaurant called Vodka. She's still a musician nowadays, alongside her brother in band Joel Gideon and the Shark. She appeared alongside Gabby Logan on Would I Lie To You, as well as TV ads for OatSo Simple and the Laughing Cow.
In my stories Aurora's powers are strongest during the summer solstice and she brings heatwaves and boiling hot summer weather. She is known to be a bit of a hot-head and a real party animal too! The other WeatherGens are wary of getting on the wrong side of her as they might end up getting burnt! She is the WeatherGen responsible for making the Northern and Southern Lights (aurora borealis/australis).
